- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar or red wine
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 bay leaves
- Fresh thyme sprigs
Instructions
- Pat brisket dry and rub with mixed seasoning of salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.
- Sear brisket in olive oil until golden, then transfer to slow cooker.
- Sauté onion and garlic, deglaze with beef broth, then add vinegar, sugar, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over brisket.
- Add bay leaves and thyme to slow cooker, cover, and cook on low for 8-10 hours until tender.
