Natural ways to lighten dark underarms

It looks like there is a cure for nearly any cosmetic concern you have, even darker skin under your arms. If you have darker skin under your arms, it could be caused by a few different things:
Some causes of dark skin under the arm include shaving, a reaction to deodorants or a bacterial infection, Livestrong reports.  Top 10 Home Remedies also says that excessive sweating and the buildup of dead skin cells may cause the skin under your arms to appear darker as well.
Dark patches of skin typically found in body folds (such as under the arm) may also be related to a condition called Acanthosis nigricans, according to the Mayo Clinic. While this skin disorder may be discomforting as far as looks go, it’s not dangerous, though the Mayo Clinic says that individuals that are obese or at a higher risk for diabetes are more likely to develop this skin condition.
If the darker skin under your arms makes you uncomfortable, you may be able to lighten the skin with a home-made remedy.
Potato:
Potato is a mildly acetic vegetable. The light acids that are found in potatoes have a natural bleaching property that is gentler on the skin than products you will find at the store. To maximize benefits, grate a potato and apply the potato juice to the darkened patches of skin. Let it air dry for about 15 minutes before rinsing off completely, Top 10 Home Remedies recommends.
Baking Soda:
Use baking soda and water to create an exfoliating paste. This will help remove dead skin cells and could reduce the appearance of darker skin under the arm. This solution can be used several times per week.
Lemon Juice:
There are conflicting reports about whether this solution is worth your while. Top 10 Home Remedies suggests rubbing a lemon wedge on our skin for several minutes, then allowing the juice to set for another 10 minutes.
However, Michael Green, a dermatologist in New York City, told the Huffington Post that this home remedy could make things worse. In fact, lemon juice could cause what is known as phytophotodermatitis, which is essentially a burn from the acids in the fruit.
Coconut Oil:
Packed with Vitamin E and a natural anti-bacterial, coconut oil is also an effective way to pamper your underarms, according to Top 10 Home Remedies. Simply massage the oil into the dark area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse away with soap and warm water.
Honey and Sugar Scrub:
While Green does not suggest using lemon due to its acidity, he does support honey cleansing scrubs like one model Kassandra Archer shared with Huffington Post. Mix together 1 1/2 cups brown sugar,1 tsp. honey, 1/2 cup light olive oil and 6 drops of lavender essential oil. This moisturizing scrub can be used anywhere on the body and will help exfoliate any dead skin cells that might be causing darker pigmentation under your arms. “And you don’t even need any moisturizer after,” Archer proclaims.
