Dough Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 Tbls butter, softened
- 1 Tbls sugar
- 1 tsp yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup Water (105-110 degrees)
Instructions
- Add all Ingredients into your Bread Machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Make sure that the Water is warm enough to proof the Yeast.
- After the Bread Machine is done (mine takes about 90 minutes on the dough cycle) – Roll Dough out onto a lightly Floured surface & work it until you achieve a round shape. Transfer to the backside of a lightly greased Pizza pan.
- Then Add all your favorite Toppings (Sauce, Sausage, Pepperoni, Mushrooms & Cheese) Bake @ 400 degrees for 18-23 minutes.
- Activate the Yeast: Start by adding the sugar and yeast to the warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes. The warm water will activate the yeast, and you’ll see it start to froth – a sign that you’re on the right track.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine flour and salt. Not only does salt add flavor, but it also strengthens the gluten structure of the dough, giving it that classic chewy texture.
- Mix the Ingredients: Slowly add the yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the flour mixture. Using the dough hook attachment, mix on low speed until the dough just begins to come together. If it appears too dry, add a bit more warm water; if it’s too sticky, add a small amount of flour.
- Knead the Dough: Increase the speed to medium and let the machine knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic, around 7-10 minutes. You can also knead by hand on a lightly floured surface if you prefer.
- Let it Rise: Coat a large bowl with the remaining 2 teaspoons of olive oil. Place the dough in the bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it sit in a warm area for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal parts. Using your hands, shape each into a tight ball and let them rest for another 10 minutes.
- Roll the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out each ball of dough. If you’re brave enough, you can try the classic pizza toss, but rolling it out works just as well.
