|1 tbsp olive oil|
|1⁄2 tsp fresh chili pepper, minced|
|1 can (14.1 oz) diced tomatoes|
|1⁄2 bell pepper, chopped|
|1⁄4 tsp dried oregano|
|1 sausage, cooked|
|1 tsp garlic, minced|
|2 fresh basil leaves, torn or chopped|
|1⁄4 tsp kosher salt|
|1⁄4 tsp black pepper|
|5 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced|
|1 1⁄2 oz parmesan cheese, shredded, divided|
|7 oz pizza dough|
|1 egg yolk, beaten|
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chili pepper and saute for about a minute. Add tomatoes, bell pepper, oregano, sausage, garlic, basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir and simmer for at least 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C). Grease the inside and a few inches around the top of the outside of a large bowl with olive oil.
- Line the inside of the prepared bowl with a single layer of mozzarella cheese slices. Sprinkle with 1/2 ounce parmesan cheese. Pour in sauce. Sprinkle with remaining 1 ounce parmesan cheese. Cover the bowl with pizza dough, leaving about 1 inch hanging over the edges. Gently press along the side of the bowl to seal in the filling. Brush with beaten egg yolk. Place the bowl on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes. Carefully invert the bowl onto a serving plate. Run a knife around the edge of the bowl, if necessary, to loosen the crust and remove the bowl.
